Produced from Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, Colombard and Baco, this wonderful vintage-dated Armagnac will make an ideal gift for someone born in 1966. Delord Bas Armagnac 1966 Vintage is a 50-year-old eau-de-vie bottled on 14 March 2016. Deep, dark mahogany in colour, the Armagnac has aromas of ripe fruit, cinnamon and fine oak, and a rich palate with sweet fruit notes, vanilla, caramel, fruit cake, Christmas pudding and warm spices. Complex and layered, it lingers long in a harmonious balance of sweet fruit, warm spice and fine oak.

Delord Vineyard

Our vineyard spans 45 hectares, divided into 11 parcels, and is located in the village of Lannepax. It consists of the four traditional Armagnac grape varieties: Ugni Blanc (58%), Colombard (16%), Folle-Blanche (14%), and Baco (12%). Rinaldo, our vineyard manager, meticulously tends to the vines throughout the year.

Delord Distillery

The distillery is located in Lannepax, the family’s native village. Distillation, a crucial and fascinating step in the creation of Armagnac, occurs in the heart of winter. We are one of the few Armagnac houses using both distillation methods: the continuous distillation typical for Armagnac and double distillation. Our two Armagnac stills, one of which is a "Sier" dating from 1900, are column stills equipped with special "spider plates" ideal for producing aged Armagnacs. The two "double distillation" stills produce fruity eaux-de-vie intended for young Armagnacs.

Winemaking Cellar

The four grape varieties are harvested, pressed, and vinified separately in a winemaking cellar located a few metres from the distillery. Sylvain Delord expertly manages temperature control, must settling, and racking techniques. He aims to produce an aromatic wine that is slightly acidic and low in alcohol, which is ideal for distillation.

Armagnac Ageing

Delord Cellars house over 1,000 barrels and a dozen oak tanks, age and protect the Armagnac eaux-de-vie from the 20th century to the present day. The oldest vintages are stored in Bonbonnes (glass jars) away from light, in a room called Paradise.
